{UPDATE ALERT} Motorola Photon 4G receiving update NOW!

A couple of days ago, I read in the XDA forums that some were expecting an update for their Photons, and had not yet received it.  Today it’s no longer a myth.  Sprint, and Moto are pushing Version.4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5, but you can receive this upgrade by checking for updates manually.

This update includes:

Voice Calls Improvements to voice calling to eliminate inadvertent voice calls defaulting to mute
Phone Performance Improve stability, resulting in fewer occurrences of unresponsiveness
Bluetooth Connectivity Bluetooth support for mono headsets with the Sprint Visual Voicemail application

I hadn’t personally experienced the muted call issue, but I’m sure those who were are happy to receive this update.  I’m glad to see the improved stability, I noticed a bit of a lag in responsiveness from time to time.  Nothing really frustrating, but improved stability is ALWAYS a good thing!

I haven’t noticed much of a difference, but I know their there, and that’s always comforting.

HERE’S the release from Moto.  Happy updating!

Also worth noting, if you’ve rooted your Mo-Pho, installing this update WILL remove root, and you will need to re-root.  I’m sure there’s a dev out there that’s already rooted the OTA, though…

UPDATE: So much for responsiveness…  Running xScope, and some App updates from the Market caused my Photon to freeze up, then restart on it’s own…  uht-oh…
